The opportunity

The School of Engineering, Technology, and Aeronautics (SETA) at Southern New Hampshire University invites applications for a full-time faculty appointment for the Physics program that will report to the Dean of SETA. You will be at the assistant professor level, starting December 2024 or August 2025, and will teach foundational undergraduate Physics courses and labs for a mix of different STEM majors, and upper-level physics major courses. As an Assistant Professor on-campus, you will mentor students and develop curriculum for new and existing programs. We are looking for faculty who can contribute vision, energy, and leadership, and are eager to help further curriculum development at a college where one person can make a difference. We are looking for colleagues who value hands-on project-based learning. Faculty members are encouraged to be involved in multiple interdisciplinary projects across the campus.

What you'll do:

  • Deliver college-approved physics courses, following approved course descriptions and class schedules.
  • Contribute to shared governance by participating in department and College committees, assisting in the formulation of educational program policies.
  • Participate in departmental efforts for curriculum development, program reviews, and accreditation, under the supervision of the department chair and coordinators.
  • Partner with faculty and staff in departmental and school-level projects.
  • Pursue and attend professional improvement activities to maintain contact with your academic discipline, including teaching/learning processes or development of knowledge in your field of specialization.
  • Create new instructional materials, techniques, course offerings, or major revisions of existing ones.
  • Support student career development and related mentoring activities, and special retention programs.
  • Attend occasional evening and weekend SETA, Admission, and University-wide events.

What we're looking for:

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in Physics or an allied field.
  • 3+ years of teaching experience at the college level or 5+ years of industrial experience

Compensation

The annual pay range for this position is $75,000.00 - $100,000.00. Actual offer will be based on experience, skills, degree, discipline and other business and organizational needs.
