The opportunity
Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a student employee to fill the role of Administrative Assistant for the Manchester Animal Shelter in Manchester, NH. This student will assist with answering phones and emails and monitoring the front desk. This student will help with other clerical duties such as office maintenance.
Job Responsibilities:
- Answering the phones at the front desk & recording all calls & messages in Asana
- Engaging & Connecting with members of the public who come into the shelter & helping with their needs accordingly - feeling confident to get a staff member for help if needed
- Helping with our Pet Food Pantry that takes place on Tuesdays/Saturdays; pulling food for orders, putting orders outside into vestibule, recording lbs of food given in JotForm
- Helping run Open Hours Shifts for Reception; Wed/Sat/Sun 12-4
- Replying to emails & being able to correctly educate the public on the following processes: Adoption, Surrender, Fostering, Intakes, Food Pantry, Spay and Neuter, Stray Animals, Animal Control, Volunteering, etc.
- Washing dishes & ensuring all clean dishes are dried, put away in correct areas
- Sweeping and mopping front lobby, vestibule, offices, hallway
- Sorting donations; going through the donation shed, sorting dog kennel closet
- Washing and folding laundry in both buildings, checking in on both periodically throughout shift
- Cleaning, stocking, and organizing different areas of the shelter; including kitchen fridge, small animal feeding area, cat feeding area, donation shed, litter shed, canine shed, food pantry closet, prescription food closet, supply closet
- Helping with Small Animal Care in Lobby if we have no volunteers
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current enrollment in classes as part of a SNHU degree program
- Work study part of financial aid package
- Students with work study may be prioritized
- Reliable transportation

Compensation
The hourly pay range for this position is $12.00 - $15.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations.
