The opportunity
Who is an Eco Rep and what will my role provide?
Eco Reps are student leaders who support the Office of Sustainability's mission by promoting sustainable practices, engaging in the campus community, and contributing to sustainability programs and initiatives. This position provides hands-on experience in project management, communication, leadership, and problem-solving while supporting students to build valuable professional skills and advance sustainability efforts at SNHU.
Resident Life Sustainability Liaison Eco Rep Learning Goals
By the end of this position, the student will be able to:
Sustainable Living & Residential Engagement
- Explain how sustainability principles can be applied within residential communities and everyday living practices.
- Identify opportunities to reduce waste, conserve resources, and promote sustainable behaviors within residence halls.
- Encourage residents to adopt sustainable habits that contribute to individual and community well-being.
Community Building & Peer Education
- Develop and facilitate educational programs, workshops, and engagement opportunities focused on sustainability.
- Utilize peer-to-peer education techniques to increase awareness and participation among residential students.
- Foster a sense of shared responsibility and community around sustainability initiatives.
Collaboration & Relationship Management
- Build effective working relationships with Resident Assistants, Residence Life staff, student leaders, and campus partners.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to plan and implement sustainability initiatives within residential communities.
- Demonstrate interpersonal and communication skills that support positive community engagement.
Program Planning & Facilitation
- Assist in the development, promotion, and execution of sustainability-related residence hall programs and events.
- Apply project management skills to coordinate program logistics, timelines, and resources.
- Facilitate engaging and inclusive experiences that encourage participation from students with diverse backgrounds and interests.
Behavior Change & Outreach
- Apply behavior change strategies to encourage sustainable actions among residents.
- Design outreach efforts that effectively communicate sustainability practices and resources.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of educational campaigns and recommend improvements based on participation and feedback.
Assessment & Impact Measurement
- Collect and analyze participation data and program feedback to assess program effectiveness.
- Measure the impact of residential sustainability initiatives and identify opportunities for growth.
- Communicate program outcomes through reports, presentations, or visual summaries.
Leadership & Inclusive Engagement
- Demonstrate leadership by serving as a sustainability role model within residential communities.
- Apply inclusive practices that create welcoming opportunities for participation and learning.
- Recognize the connections between sustainability, social well-being, community development, and equity.
Resident Life Eco Rep Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Current SNHU student in good academic standing.
- Must currently be living in one of the SNHU residence halls
- Passion for sustainability, environmental stewardship, and community engagement.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to plan, coordinate, and complete projects within established timelines.
- Comfortable engaging with peers in residence halls and campus settings.
- Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends to support residential programs and events.
- Able to support colleagues with attending or working at other events is mandatory- this includes Good Stuff (Winter and last three weeks of classes/week after classes end), Arboretum After Dark in October, Campus Race to Zero Waste
- Driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
- Residence hall living experience at SNHU or another institution.
- Experience serving as a Resident Assistant, orientation leader, peer mentor, student leader, or member of a campus organization.
- Experience facilitating programs, workshops, educational events, or community-building activities.
- Familiarity with sustainability topics such as waste reduction, energy conservation, sustainable living, or environmental education.
- Experience promoting events through social media, flyers, presentations, or peer outreach.
- Experience collecting feedback, tracking participation, or evaluating program effectiveness.
Learning Outcomes
Through this position, the Resident Life Sustainability Liaison Eco Rep will develop skills in community engagement, peer education, program facilitation, leadership, and sustainability outreach while promoting sustainable living practices and fostering a culture of environmental stewardship within SNHU's residential communities.
Create and facilitate opportunities that help residents understand the connection between sustainability, community well-being, and everyday decision-making.

Hours
Hours are 10-15 hours a week, up to 20 only if needed and student can do these hours occasionally
Hours range based on events, typically Monday- Friday. Some nights and weekends.

Compensation
The hourly pay range for this position is $13.00 - $15.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations.
