The opportunity
Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a student employee to fill the role of Library Student Supervisor. This role will work with professional staff supervisors to mentor, monitor and develop the student employees within the library.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist management with the training and professional development of new student employees
- Respond to user inquiries in person; supervisors are expected to have practiced knowledge of library service points, other units housed in the Wolak Library Learning Commons, the ability to direct users to other campus locations, as well as assist users in navigating the Shapiro Library homepage.
- Mentoring new Shapiro Library Student Employees
- Cultivate and promote a team-oriented to foster a positive and welcoming student worker community.
- Help with the planning and management of projects and events created by the Shapiro Library. This includes campus events, seasonal displays, and book displays.
- Refer questions to appropriate staff person or service point; supervisors should feel very confident and knowledgeable when transitioning users to other library personnel or WLLC service points
- Approach work with solutions to conflicts and be a point of contact to Shapiro Library Student Employees
- Circulate materials accurately and efficiently; supervisors should have practiced knowledge of circulation policies and procedures
- Demonstrate accuracy with shelving library items and shelf reading library collection; supervisors should be exceptionally familiar with the various library collections, fluent in the Library of Congress call number system, and possess strong attention to detail
- Maintain confidentiality of user records
- Assist Information Desk Supervisors with routine tasks
- Assist in general maintenance of library facility—including, but not limited to, basic cleaning, pushing in chairs, and general tidying
- Other duties as assigned
- evenings and weekend day required
Minimum Qualification
- Current enrollment in classes as part of a SNHU degree program
- Previous Shapiro Library Assistants considered

Work Schedule
Monday-Friday 8:30AM-7:30PM
Saturday-Sunday 11:30AM-7:30PM

Compensation
The hourly pay range for this position is $13.00 - $15.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations.
