The opportunity

Who is an Eco Rep and what will my role provide?

Eco Reps are student leaders who support the Office of Sustainability's mission by promoting sustainable practices, engaging in the campus community, and contributing to sustainability programs and initiatives. This position provides hands-on experience in project management, communication, leadership, and problem-solving while supporting students to build valuable professional skills and advance sustainability efforts at SNHU.

The ideal Marketing & Communications Eco Rep is a creative and organized student who enjoys telling stories, creating content, and connecting with others. They are excited about sustainability, curious about digital communications, and eager to use marketing and storytelling to inspire positive change across the SNHU community.

Position Summary

The Marketing & Communications Eco Rep supports the Office of Sustainability by promoting programs, events, and initiatives through strategic communication, storytelling, and digital engagement. This position provides hands-on experience in marketing, communications, content creation, and audience engagement while helping increase awareness of sustainability opportunities across the SNHU community. The Marketing & Communications Eco Rep serves as a sustainability ambassador who helps communicate the impact of sustainability programs and inspires campus community members to take action.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and create content for social media platforms, newsletters, websites, presentations, and promotional materials.
  • Support marketing campaigns for sustainability programs, events, and initiatives.
  • Capture and share stories that highlight student involvement, sustainability achievements, and program impact.
  • Assist with graphic design, photography, videography, and multimedia projects.
  • Collaborate with Eco Reps and campus partners to promote sustainability opportunities.
  • Monitor and report on communication and engagement metrics.
  • Maintain branding consistency across Office of Sustainability communications.
  • Support event marketing and outreach efforts.
  • Assist with collecting testimonials, photos, and impact stories from sustainability initiatives.
  • Serve as a positive ambassador for sustainability within the SNHU community.

Required Qualifications

  • Current SNHU student in good academic standing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Interest in sustainability, marketing, communications, storytelling, or public relations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Creativity and willingness to learn new communication and marketing skills.
  • Able to support colleagues with attending or working at other events is mandatory- this includes Good Stuff (Winter and last three weeks of classes/week after classes end), Arboretum After Dark in October, Campus Race to Zero Waste
  • Driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Coursework or experience in marketing, communications, public relations, graphic design, journalism, media arts, business, sustainability, or a related field.
  • Experience creating content for social media platforms.
  • Familiarity with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Designer, or similar design tools.
  • Experience with photography, videography, or multimedia content creation.
  • Experience writing newsletters, articles, blogs, or promotional content.
  • Experience promoting events, programs, or student organization activities.
  • Knowledge of social media trends and audience engagement strategies.

Hours

Main schedule would meet the needs of the office; following the events that are set up by the office

10-15 hours a week

Mostly weekdays, some nights and weekends if events are scheduled

Compensation

The hourly pay range for this position is $13.00 - $15.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations.
