Position Summary:
The Audio Visual Support Technician I provides hands-on technical support for audio visual, multimedia, and distance education technologies across SNHU's academic, workplace, and event spaces. This role is responsible for diagnosing and resolving AV system issues, including connectivity problems, equipment malfunctions, and conferencing technology failures, to ensure reliable operation of AV environments.
The Audio Visual Support Technician I delivers technical assistance during scheduled business and academic events when AV system issues arise, working in coordination with Event Services and other stakeholders. The role supports a high volume of onsite and virtual activities by performing technical diagnostics, restoring service, and ensuring AV systems function as designed. Customer service is provided to faculty, staff, students, vendors, and partners in a professional and responsive manner.
Technical responsibilities include troubleshooting and supporting audio systems, video displays, cameras, microphones, lighting, and conferencing technologies. The Audio Visual Support Technician I performs preventative maintenance, documents issues and resolutions, and supports projects and system improvements as assigned. Travel between campus and office locations is required.
Success in this role is measured by timely issue resolution, system reliability, and consistent delivery of high-quality technical support that enables successful academic and business activities for the SNHU community.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and break/fix support for audio visual systems in classrooms, conference rooms, and event spaces, including projectors, televisions, displays, HD signal routing, audio routing, and AV control systems.
- Diagnose and resolve AV connectivity, hardware, and software issues to restore service and minimize disruption during academic, business, and scheduled events.
- Install, terminate, test, and maintain AV cabling and related infrastructure as required.
- Provide technical assistance and customer support to faculty, staff, students, and vendors regarding AV systems and technologies.
- Deliver technical support for live events when AV system issues arise, working in coordination with Conference Services and other stakeholders.
- Review and respond to AV-related support requests, ensuring required technical details are documented accurately in appropriate systems (e.g., ServiceNow).
- Collaborate with Conference Services, Facilities, Admissions, and other space owners to support AV readiness and resolve technical issues impacting scheduled activities.
- Configure, test, and support cameras, microphones, sound systems, video displays, lighting, conferencing platforms, and streaming technologies used in SNHU spaces.
- Coordinate with external vendors for technical repairs, replacements, or specialized AV services when directed.
- Perform preventative maintenance on existing AV equipment and support lifecycle management, inventory tracking, and deployment of portable AV assets.
- Support AV-related projects, system upgrades, and improvements under the guidance of Media Services leadership.

What We're Looking For
- 2 years of experience. Relevant experience must include a background in AV and complex live event production. Experience should also reflect successful demonstration of people skills (collaborative leadership, team player) and soft-skills (highly organized, effective communicator, results-oriented.)
- Bachelor's degree in Audio Visual or related technical field
- Equivalent of experience in lieu of degree acceptable: ☒ Yes ☐ No
- Professional Certification(s): Extron AV Associate, ITIL Foundations
Specialized knowledge:
- Working knowledge of acoustics, live sound reinforcement, and sound processing equipment to support clear and reliable audio in classrooms, conference rooms, and event spaces.
- Working knowledge of video systems, conferencing platforms, and live streaming technologies used in academic and business environments.
- Familiarity with IT service management tools and monitoring platforms, such as ServiceNow and Global Viewer Enterprise (GVE), for documenting, tracking, and resolving technical issues.
- Understanding of customer service best practices in a technical support environment.
Skills
- Proficiency with common multimedia and content tools used for AV support and troubleshooting (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Premiere, and DaVinci Resolve).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Microsoft Teams.
- Proficiency supporting Windows and macOS/iOS platforms as they relate to AV connectivity, conferencing, and display configurations.
- Proficiency with projector and display technologies, including LCD, LED, laser, and wireless projection systems.
- Experience creating clear written documentation, including support tickets, knowledge articles, technical instructions, or incident reports.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues, complete projects, or support operational objectives.
- Experience managing multiple work requests simultaneously, prioritizing tasks based on urgency, impact, and service-level expectations.
Abilities
- Experience supporting and maintaining AV, conferencing, or collaboration technologies in classroom, meeting, event, or enterprise environments.
- Experience responding to and resolving technical issues within established timelines in time-sensitive or operational support environments.
- Experience adjusting work priorities and managing changing workloads in a fast-paced technical support environment.
Other Characteristics
- Experience documenting technical issues, resolutions, and system changes with accuracy and completeness.
- Experience monitoring, maintaining, and supporting technology systems to meet operational and customer service requirements.
- Experience taking ownership of technical issues through resolution, including follow-up communication with customers or stakeholders regarding outcomes and next steps.

Compensation
The hourly pay range for this position is $21.72 - $34.77. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations. We expect this position to be hired in the following target hiring range $24.02 - $32.49.
