The opportunity

Join the Assistive Technology team and gain meaningful work experience while helping others. As a Student Assistant, you will explore assistive technology, create accessible videos and job aids, support campus events and research, and connect students with free digital resources. Through this hands-on work, you will build skills in communication, teamwork, critical thinking, problem-solving, leadership, professionalism, technology, and career development.

In this role, you will:

  • Communicate clearly with people who use assistive technology by listening carefully, asking helpful questions, and explaining practical strategies for work and learning.
  • Build confidence using a variety of assistive technology tools and devices.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and help resolve basic assistive technology issues.
  • Contribute ideas, gather information, and complete assigned tasks for team projects and research.
  • Create clear, simple, and accessible job aids and other helpful resources.
  • Build professional relationships with student clubs and campus groups.
  • Advocate for assistive technology and promote free digital resources available to all students.
  • Take part in training and learning opportunities about accessibility, assistive technology, and apply new knowledge to future work.

Qualifications

  • Be enrolled full-time at Southern New Hampshire University.
  • Have a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  • Be comfortable using Microsoft 365 and video creation and editing platforms.
  • Be able to learn new information and use it in your work.
  • Be able to solve problems and troubleshoot basic issues.
  • Be able to manage several tasks.
  • Protect others’ privacy.
  • Be comfortable working in a busy environment where priorities may change.
  • Think about the needs and experience of the person using the technology.
  • Be curious and willing to learn about new accessibility and educational technology.
  • Be self-motivated and interested in professional growth.

Compensation


The hourly pay range for this position is $13.00 - $15.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations.
