The opportunity

Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a Graduate Assistant to join The Chandler Center on our Manchester campus. This position provides valuable leadership and operational support while overseeing The Chandler Center's student marketing team. Responsibilities include managing social media accounts, capturing photos and videos at events, leading marketing team meetings, and helping develop and implement strategic marketing initiatives. In addition to marketing responsibilities, the Graduate Assistant will support daily office operations by assisting full-time staff with community engagement initiatives and supporting key campus partnerships that enhance student experience and address student needs. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in marketing, social media strategy, leadership, event promotion, and community engagement while contributing to The Chandler Center's mission of inspiring and supporting students to create positive social change.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise The Chandler Center's student marketing team, providing guidance, support, and project management.
  • Develop, manage, and maintain a comprehensive social media content calendar..
  • Create engaging digital content, including photography, videography, graphics, and promotional materials to increase campus engagement.
  • Promote volunteer opportunities, service initiatives, civic engagement programs, and special events through strategic marketing campaigns.
  • Collaborate with full-time staff to develop and implement marketing strategies that advance The Chandler Center's mission.
  • Assist with planning, promotion, and execution of campus and community engagement events.
  • Collaborate with campus partnerships to help meet students basic needs.
  • Provide general office support, including answering phones, assisting visitors, and other administrative tasks
  • Attend bi-weekly staff meetings held on Monday evenings on campus.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned in support of The Chandler Center's programs and operations.
  • Drive The Chandler Center mini-vans as needed for events and programs

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Enrollment in a Graduate Day program at SNHU
  • Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Communications, Marketing and/or Social Media
  • Experience with Instagram, Microsoft Teams, Canva, Excel
  • Experience in Community Service and Engagement
  • Strong interest in developing leadership skills

Work Hours:

20 Hours per Week

  • Strengthen critical thinking skills and demonstrate the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Exhibit essential job skills such as punctuality, dependability, time management, and goal setting
  • Build confidence in professional communication, including telephone etiquette, concise and accurate email correspondence
  • Gain hands-on experience in event planning, promotion, and management
  • Enhance marketing and communication skills by creating and managing social media content, utilizing analytics to inform strategies, and crafting compelling messaging to engage diverse audiences
  • Deepen awareness of the diversity within the greater Manchester community and the non-profit organizations served by the Center
  • Develop a practical understanding of active citizenship and its role in fostering civic engagement

Compensation

The hourly pay range for this position is $13.00 - $15.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations.
